This church is the only building that remains of what was once a thriving community. The flood waters split into two paths, and left it standing. The old church is located in Campbell County, East Tennessee.
Bruce Wallace, of Caryville is the current pastor at the Clinchmore church. He is the man in the white hat seated at the table. Bruce, is a kindhearted man who is always ready to help others in need.
People still enjoy getting together at Clinchmore church for good music, and to share stories and reminisce about the old times. A lot of people come to hike up the old roads and see some of the old sites that still remain. Most of the Clinchmore area is now part of the Wind Rock four wheeling park. Many people come from out of state and ride in the park. A few get lost and end up at the church where the kindness of the locals will always been bound.
Meet Mr Willie Buttram, the curator of the fine black and white pictures of Clinchmore. Willie, has worked for years to put together a album of these historical pictures. After the flood destroyed most of the area in 1965, a lot of pictures were lost in the flood, and also by people moving around and just losing track of the pictures from that area. So thank God for a man like Willie Buttram, who cared enough about Clinchmore to save the history in photos. Without these photos so much h
